Ways to Enjoy Camping.

The simplest type of camping is backpacking. When you
backpack camp, you carry everything you need in a pack and
hike to the camp site. Your tent or ground cloth, sleeping
bag, food, cooking supplies, and personal products are all
carried with you. I like to take the small fishing pole
and a book to read. With all the new small and light weight
gadgets, you can easily carry enough for an extended stay.

Tent Camping differs from backpacking in the fact that you
don't need to carry it all on your back. many items can be
more bulky because you drive to the campsite. You can drive
to some secluded spot, and enjoy a few more comforts. I
like the addition of an Ice chest with cool drinks and
other goodies that won't stay good without the cold
storage. You can usually have a campfire and roast
marshmallows. For me it is the enjoyment of the great
outdoors, without all the work of backpacking.

Tent Trailer Camping is for those of us who want the
outdoor experience, with more of the comforts of home. Tent
trailers are light, compact, and can be pulled my most
smaller vehicles. Most of them have heat, water, and when
plugged in, many other comforts like a refrigerator, and
air conditioning. some even have a toilet. They set up in
minutes, and still give you the sound of outside, like a
tent.

When you reach a travel trailer, or 5th wheel. you know you
are serious about comfort. It is bringing all the comforts
of home, It can stay packed, and you can even pack up to
leave by just throwing everything inside and going. The
roadside stops are much better, and the hot water shower
makes it all worth while. You will probably need a good
sized vehicle to tow it. and you will want to make sure
that it is set up with the tow package. Travel trailers are
a great way to see the country, and be at home along the
way.

Motor home camping is much like having a trailer, with a
few exceptions. They include room for the family to move
and nap while driving. DVDs to watch, and even potty stops
are eliminated for passenger emergencies. The meals can
even be prepared along the way. almost all motorhomes have
a generator so you can use any power items at any time.
There are several Must haves with a motorhome, including
an awning, and cruise control. The main drawback is that
once you set up a campsite, you must break camp to run to
the store, or anywhere else. This is why you often see a
vehicle towed behind many motorhomes.

No matter how you do it, there is something therapeutic
about traveling away from home and getting closer to the
great out doors. Everyone seems nicer. Life seems to slow
down, and as we keep a good attitude, camping will be a
great vacation.
